Rooted in RED paintings part 1

ROOTED IN RED PAINTINGS

I have been using the Rooted in RED symbol as the subject in my paintings.  Creating pattern and designs, like the murals, to incorporate the symbol in a different context.  Maybe to enliven the symbol by dedicating the design pattern to be centered around the symbol.   Still using French Luberon red ochre and acrylics my palette is still in a monochromatic red.  The juxtaposition of the natural pigment (which I am using raw on top of an acrylic base) and a high gloss glaze makes the red ochre pigment almost sacred and precious.

It's happening again....

I may not have an outside wall to paint a mural, BUT I do have an inside wall!  I am in process of painting a version of the mural sketch below in my studio.  First Friday's in October has inspired me to create a real Rooted in RED wall in my studio that can be apart of my creative space.    Should be done by the end of the week!

Maya made it!

My sweet and talented co-worker Maya has created the Rooted in RED symbol into an amazing necklace!   Made of copper and silver, the necklace is simply perfect!  She has captured the integrity of the symbol with such precision.  Thank you Maya for your amazing talent and can not wait to have more made!!!!

Rooted in RED wall comes to First Fridays!

October's First Friday in the studio featured the Rooted in RED wall!  Explaining the mural projects and what exactly is a commural, the wall served to draw people into the education of what the project is.  I also passed out Rooted in RED project temporary tattoos, which people loved!
